Project Overview

One of the problems in adding a second storey, with this particular project, was that it could have resulted in a high and narrow house that would have sat rather uncomfortably on the block.
This was overcome by incorporating landscaping into the overall plan to give the house a better proportioned appearance. This landscaping included a courtyard wall at the front of the house and a pergola type carport.
Another problem was that although the house faced north, most of the living room at the back had a poorly lit southerly aspect.
This was solved by the clever use of windows, including one spanning two levels to bring as much light into the house as possible. The entry of the house was moved from the side to the front.

Client Testimonial

“… Peter O’Carroll was selected for the job because his quote was compatible with one other and significantly lower than the other two. He also came highly recommended from a friend of ours. We now endorse that recommendation.
“We are very happy with our new house and even three years later consider ourselves and the O’Carrolls to be friends.”
